Assertion Analysis #2: Burger King Bill of Rights
My experience at Burger King was me not having it my way. According to this quote written by the CEO of Burger King Brad Blum he claims that we can have it our way but in this case I didn't. I went to Burger King a while ago and I wanted an extra sweet and sour sauce and they wouldn't give it to me. The only way the worker would give me more sauce is if I paid extra for it. I did not want to pay extra for a sauce therefore they didn't give it to me so I left because I couldn't have it my way. Which reminds me of how those who don't live in the American Dream can't have it their way because of reality.
Brad Blum, CEO of Burger King says that we, the audience can have it our way. We have the right to do whatever we please. We have the right to do something great and be tired after finishing it. You also have the right to believe that you're apart of the dream when wearing your paper crown from Burger King but you also have a choice live in reality. You have the right to either stand up for what your believe in or to not do anything. Last you have the right to completely ignore him and go on with your life. You can have it your way.
The techniques he in the quote is ethos and pathos. He uses ethos by convincing us that we can have it our way. Pathos is an appeal to emotion and convincing an argument towards the audience. He uses pathos to also convince us to have it our way but he also uses it to make us have illusions as soon as we start reading it. He uses satire to make a serious situation funny to make it easier to talk about. Irony is also used which is somewhat similar to satire he says "You have the right to put a paper crown on your head and pretend you're the ruler of "(your make-believe kingdom here)". Which is opposite becaus in the real world it's not make believe.
I don't agree with him and his way of thinking because I couldn't have it my way at Burger King. People who live in reality and not on the blanket of make believe can't have it their way because of their race. People who don't have money can't have it their way compared to people who do have money. Therefore I disagree with his claim and I say that we cannot get it our way.
